Rauma Day will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2026, when the city turns 584 years old. The festivities will span more than a week with a wide range of events and will culminate in Friday’s Market Square celebration, headlined by pop artist Nelli Matula.
– Rauma Day is a shared celebration for the entire city. We want to give residents the opportunity to come together, enjoy culture and celebrate our vibrant cultural city, says cultural producer Outi Lehtorinne.
Program for the Whole Family at the Market Square Celebration
At the Market Square celebration, children can enjoy performances by the children’s band Sukkalukko Duo at 10 AM and 5 PM, and music group Kakrut will perform at 2 PM. More local performers will also take the stage during the afternoon and will be announced later.
The traditional Meripojat Awards and Ruorimiehet Medals will be presented at 5:45 PM. The Meripojat Award is given to an individual or group that has contributed to the community or supported others in Rauma, while the Ruorimiehet Medal recognizes valuable work carried out for the City of Rauma.
The headliner of the Market Square celebration, Nelli Matula, will take the stage at 6 PM. She is known for her catchy hits and energetic live performances, with well-known songs including Hitaammin hautaan and Lemmikki.
Visitors can also explore local associations and clubs at the associations’ market, which will be open throughout the entire Market Square celebration.

During the Market Square celebration, residents will have the opportunity to influence the City of Rauma’s renewed brand, which will be launched later in the spring.
In addition, event for new residents will return on Rauma Day after a break of several years. Invitations to the event will be sent by post, and another reception for new residents will be held in the autumn.
Up to Ten Days of Celebration
Rauma Day’s festive week will feature a diverse program across the city, including concerts, art events and other cultural experiences organized by various local actors.
– It’s wonderful that the celebration continues throughout the entire week. The events bring people together to share cultural experiences and create new memories as part of a city-wide celebration, Lehtorinne adds.
The festive week begins with the Art Goes Pinnala event at the Rauma Art Museum from April 10 to 12. The event showcases local visual arts associations and artists and offers program for art lovers of all ages, from music and literature to discussions and lectures.
– Last year’s Art Goes Tarvosaari event was a great success, and this year we wanted to make it part of the Rauma Day celebrations. The event launches the festive week as a tribute to visual art in Rauma, says museum curator Aleksandra Harju.
The traditional Kipparinpuisto children’s event will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. The program includes activity stations, face painting and physical activities. The traffic park will also be open during the event, and juice will be served to participants. The event is organized in cooperation with Opekas ry.
