The results of Rauma’s 2026 participatory budgeting vote are in. Of the proposals submitted by residents, the most support went to the purchase of skate park equipment for Jääpuisto (528 votes), outdoor movie screenings in the park, 301 votes, a leg press machine for Otanlahti, 203 votes, and the Pitsisydän photo frame and meeting spot, 201 votes.

The proposal that received the most support—the purchase of skate park equipment for Jääpuisto—will be implemented by acquiring 3–4 portable skate park elements for the Keskuspuisto area during the summer. Community outdoor movie events will be held in the summer, for example in a city park, and the events are aimed at children, young people, and families.

The leg press in Otanlahti will be implemented in collaboration with Sports Services as part of the overall sports facility construction project and the budget allocated for it, in connection with the city’s long-term development of sports facilities. This ensures that the €50,000 participatory budgeting budget is sufficient to implement the other proposals that received the most votes.

The Pitsisydän photo frame is being designed for Kauppatori as a sculptural, illuminated installation. It would also be possible to sit inside the frame.

– The Lace Heart fell just short of the required number of votes to be implemented, but it nevertheless received a lot of support and is well-suited to strengthening community spirit and the Rauma spirit. That is why the Well-being, Health, and Safety Steering Group wants to include it among the proposals to be implemented, says Well-being Manager Kristiina Kuusio.

The voting phase ran from March 23 to April 10. A total of 1,763 valid votes were cast during the voting period. Votes cast after the voting period ended were reviewed, and duplicate votes from those who voted multiple times were removed. The vote review did not affect the result.

Planning for the implementation will begin as soon as possible.
