Over the course of this autumn and winter, an inspiring and forward-looking vision will be created to guide the city’s development up to the year 2050.

The City of Rauma has launched the process of drafting a vision for its city center. Over the course of this autumn and winter, an inspiring and forward-looking vision will be created to guide the city’s development up to the year 2050. All residents are invited to take part in shaping this shared vision for the future.

The vision will be developed by a team led by Arkkitehdit Tommila, which won the design competition. The team also includes Nomaji Landscape Architects, Urban Practice, a consultancy specializing in interactive strategy work, and traffic planning expert Seppo Karppinen.

Throughout the autumn, the city center vision will be developed through various interactive events. Residents, business representatives, and elected officials are all invited to participate. An open public event, the Future Festival, will be held on November 27, providing an opportunity to identify key areas for development and to brainstorm potential new uses for them. Next year, residents will also have the chance to comment on and evaluate the preliminary vision.

– A pleasant and functional city is built together. The ideas and wishes of residents are valuable to us as we create the Rauma of the future, says architect Leena Joki-Korpela from the City of Rauma.

As the work progresses, a dedicated website will be launched where residents can leave feedback and follow the project’s development. There will also be opportunities for companies and young people to participate along the way.
