Senior Culture Weeks offer experiences and opportunities to socialize from September 28 to October 18.
Senior Culture Weeks will be held in Rauma from September 28 to October 18, 2026. This year’s program features a wide variety of opportunities to participate, learn new things, and enjoy culture. Highlights include concerts, theater performances, guided museum tours, lectures, workshops, group singing, and hobby groups. The program also features events organized by Rauma’s associations, communities, and other local organizations.
– The Culture Weeks beautifully bring together different ways to spend time, experience culture, and meet other people. There’s definitely something for everyone—whether your interests lie in music, history, art, exercise, or learning something new, says producer Outi Lehtorinne.
In addition to seniors, their loved ones are also welcome to attend the events. Some events are free of charge, while others require a fee. Event-specific pricing and registration information, as well as the full program, can be found on the Seniors’ Culture Weeks website at rauma.fi/senioreidenkulttuuriviikot. A printed program guide is also available at the Pyyrman service desk at Valtakatu 2 A.
The program also includes, among other things, guided tours of museums and other sites, group singing, creative writing, crafts, dance, and various accessible exercise opportunities. The Rauma Adult Education Center also offers courses and lectures for seniors on topics such as crafts, baking, hiking in the woods, history, and information technology.
The Seniors’ Culture Weeks program also runs throughout the fall in recurring groups at locations such as the library, parish facilities, the Senior Center, TulesTalo, Wellness Frisk, and Marttapirtti.
The Culture Weeks are coordinated by Rauma’s Cultural Services.
Highlights from the Seniors’ Culture Weeks program
Tue, Sept. 29: Music Evening “Armas!”
At the Karin Campus, you’ll hear music inspired by Eino Leino’s poems, spanning various styles and decades. Performers include Paula Kuusisto (vocals) and Piia Eskola (piano). Admission is free.
Mon, Oct. 5: “Muija ja tosimuija” Stand-Up Comedy at Rauma Hall
Anitta Ahonen and Johanna Tohni bring a lively stand-up comedy night to Rauma Hall. The show starts at 6 p.m., and the 15-euro ticket price includes coffee during the intermission. The show is rated K-16.
Sat, Oct. 10: “Good Everyday Life” Fair at the Kari Campus
At this fair, which is open to all ages, you can learn about the activities of local sports clubs, associations, and wellness organizations and get new ideas for your own well-being. This event, which is open to everyone and free of charge, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sat, Oct. 10: Eino Leino Recited and Sung at Rauma Hall
The Rauma Orchestra will perform with Markku Pekonen as soloist, and Nina Rintala will recite the works of Eino Leino. In this concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of Eino Leino’s death, the poems come to life through the power of music and poetry. The concert begins at 5:00 p.m., and tickets cost 10 euros.
Tue, Oct. 13: Senior Disco at the Kari Campus
DJ Börje will play hits from the ’60s through the ’80s, perfect for dancing and enjoying the atmosphere. Coffee will be served. Free admission.
Thu, Oct. 15: Seniors’ Cultural Coffee at Marela
At the Seniors’ Cultural Coffee, participants enjoy coffee and explore the arts. October’s themed tour explores Rauma and local visual artists, from Viktor Westerholm and Jalmari Karhula to Kirsi Kuusisto and Kerttu Horila. Regular museum admission fee.
Fri, Oct. 16: Theater Trip to Pori – Inspector Palmu’s Mistake
As part of the Seniors’ Culture Week, we’ll take a bus to the Pori Theater to see the play Inspector Palmu’s Mistake. The cost of the trip is 35 euros, which includes bus transportation from Rauma to Pori and back, as well as a theater ticket.
