Shared E-Scooters Arrive in Rauma on 16–17 March 2026 – Use Regulated by a Micromobility Permit
News

Shared e-scooters provided by private operators will be introduced in Rauma on 16–17 March 2026. The City of Rauma regulates the service through a micromobility permit. The service may be temporarily restricted or suspended if weather or road conditions require it.
Micromobility Permit Improves Safety
The use of e-scooters in Rauma is regulated by a micromobility permit that came into force on 1 January 2026. The purpose of the permit is to improve the safety of e-scooters and other forms of micromobility, as well as to facilitate the management of these services within the city.
Through the micromobility permit, the city is able to tailor services to local conditions and, when necessary, intervene in issues such as improper parking, speed limits, operating hours, and situations that obstruct accessibility.
– The micromobility permit applies only to shared, rentable micromobility vehicles, such as e-scooters and e-bikes. In Rauma, the permit has been granted to TIER Mobility Finland Oy and Joe Scooter, says public transit planner Mikael Saive.
City Reminds Users to Ride Safely and Park Responsibly
The City of Rauma reminds users to follow traffic rules when riding e-scooters. E-scooter users must comply with the same rules as cyclists, and riding on sidewalks is not permitted. The city recommends a calm riding style, the use of a helmet, and particular caution in the variable conditions typical of early spring.
– E-scooters must be parked so that they do not obstruct movement, compromise accessibility, or pose a danger to other road users. Parking is always the user’s responsibility, and local parking and speed restrictions must be observed, Saive emphasises.
Improperly parked or obstructive e-scooters should primarily be reported directly to the service operator. Reports are also requested to be sent to joukkoliikenne@rauma.fi so that compliance with the micromobility permit conditions can be monitored.
Questions related to trips, payments, or damages should be directed to the service operator. Contact details, operating instructions, and further information are available on the City of Rauma’s micromobility permit webpage (in Finnish).
