The Library Bus Will Serve Kodisjoki Residents Starting in August
News

Library services in Kodisjoki will be restructured as of 1 June 2026. Going forward, services will be provided by a mobile library bus.
The City Council of Rauma decided on the school network plan on 17 June 2024, under which Kodisjoki School will close on 31 May 2026. As the local library has operated in connection with the school, it is no longer practical to continue its operations after the school closes. The Education Committee decided at its meeting on 25 March 2026 that the library’s operations will end on 1 June 2026.
Due to limited space, the Kodisjoki library’s collection has been relatively small, which has been reflected in low borrowing figures. In addition, around half of the loans have been made by pupils of Kodisjoki School.
From the start of the autumn season in August, two weekly library bus stops will be introduced in Kodisjoki. The use of the stops will be monitored.
– Our goal is for the library bus to serve Kodisjoki residents as well as possible. That’s why the routes and stops will be planned according to the needs of local residents, says Karri Hara, Head of Library Services.
Through the library bus, customers can borrow and return items from all Rauma libraries, and reserved materials will be delivered directly to the stops. The service offers a wider and more frequently changing collection than before, which can also be supplemented based on customers’ requests.
