Daycare Place Guarantee

If a family wants to discontinue a child’s early childhood education for reasons such as parental leave or any other reasons, the child can return to their place of early childhood education under the daycare place facility guarantee. As a general rule, the guarantee applies to daycare in a daycare center not in family daycare.

The guarantee is conditional on the child being out of early childhood education for at least 4 months and returns in August or September. The guarantee is agreed in writing with the director of the daycare center.

Submitting a Complaing

Children have the right to safe and high-quality early childhood education and care. Sometimes, however, carers have questions or are dissatisfied with early childhood education and care. In these situations, the parents can seek clarification with the Director of the Early Childhood Education unit responsible for the education, the person in charge of the institution or the Head of the Early Childhood Education Department.

The parent has the right to lodge a complaint about the operation of municipal or voucher-based early childhood education, if things are not resolved by discussing the matter in the early childhood education center (Early Childhood Education Act, Section 54§)
