Entrances and Accessible Routes in Museums

Rauma Art Museum
The main entrance to the Rauma Art Museum on Kuninkaankatu is not accessible. The main entrance has stairs, as well as an exterior door and a vestibule door, all of which you open on your own.
The accessible entrance can be found in the courtyard of the Rauma Art Museum. The courtyard can be accessed through the gateway on the Kuninkaankatu side. The gate is open. The accessible entrance is on the right as you face the gate from the street side. The entrance is marked with a sign. It is also possible to park a car near the accessible entrance. However, there are no official parking spaces in the courtyard, and free space cannot be guaranteed. Taxis or other drivers may drop off and pick up customers in the courtyard.
The accessible entrance is step-free, and a lift suitable for electric wheelchairs is also available. When you arrive, please ring the doorbell and staff will come to open the door and assist you with the lift.
The art museum courtyard and wheelchair lift are accessible all year.
The first-floor exhibition space is accessible and can be entered with the wheelchair lift. Please note, that the doorway between the exhibition spaces and the front desk has a 11cm high step, which requires assisted passing.
The second-floor exhibition space is not accessible. The museum does not have a lift to the second floor and the only access is via stairs. The second-floor exhibition spaces spread out to multiple rooms, with steps and high thresholds between them.
Old Town Hall (closed due to restoration and building project)
Once the ongoing restoration is complete, the first floor of the Rauma Old Town Hall will be accessible, and an accessible restroom will be in the newbuilding in the courtyard.

Shipowner’s Home Marela
The entrance to Marela on Kauppakatu is not accessible. Entrance has stairs. Double doors into the museum can be opened. The entrance stairway has five steps and a low threshold. The exhibition spaces are accessible. Some doorways have thresholds.
Salor’s Home Kirsti
Access to Kirsti is not accessible. The courtyard can be accessed through a gate with assistance from either Pohjankatu or the Raumanjoki River. The courtyard is partly uneven and rocky. Several steps lead into Kirsti’s interior, and there are high thresholds between the rooms. The doorways are narrow.
Potter’s Workshop
Access to the Potter’s Workshop is not wheelchair-accessible. The path to the entrance on Nummenkatu is uneven and rocky. There are two steps leading into the building, and there are thresholds between the rooms.
Blacksmith’s Home
Access to Blacksmith´s home is not accessible. The entrance is reached by walking across a lawn. There are steps and thresholds at the main entrance.
Assistants and Service Dogs
The aide or assistant of the holder of an EU Disability Card has free admission to the Rauma city museums and the exhibitions.
Museums can be visited with a guide or a service dog. Pets are not allowed.
Bathroom Spaces
The museums do not have accessible bathroom spaces.
The nearest accessible bathrooms are in the marketplace Kauppatori and Rauma health
centre (Steniuksenkatu 2).
Another accessible bathroom is located in Savilanpuisto, at the Rauma Tourist Information
office (Savilankatu 8).
Parking
The closest free parking area is located on Kaunisjärvenkatu (The Vanha Rauma parking area). Kuninkaankatu and Kauppakatu have free individual parking spaces.
The art museum courtyard has free
parking for the holder of an EU Disability Card. The courtyards of Marela and the art museum allow parking for bikes.
