Twin and Partnership Cities
The City of Rauma has one twin city and four partnership cities.

Twin City
Kaposvar, Hungary

Kaposvar cooperation
Twin city relations with Kaposvar in Hungary date back to 1991. Inter-municipal collaboration has been maintained since 2002 and a twinning agreement was signed in 2010. The friendship is based on kinship between the two nations, as well as cultural and social cooperation.

Information about the cooperation
The aim is to develop relations and interaction between the inhabitants of the cities. Twinning encourages and supports meetings between associations and individuals, creates links in the fields of education, culture, sport and environmental protection, and pays particular attention to strengthening economic and tourist ties.
Representatives from Rauma visit Kaposvar annually for the City of Painters Festival, and Rauma invites representatives from Kaposvar to visit annually, usually during Festivo.

Gävle and Gjövik cooperation
The aim of the Gävle and Gjövik cooperation is to strenghten the Nordic identity and increase interaction, cultural exchange and new ways of learning from each other.
Information about the cooperation
Nordic twinning between Rauma, Naestved in Denmark, Gjövik in Norway and Gävle in Sweden started in 1950. From 1988 to 2013, Alftanaes in Iceland also took part in the twinning activities.
The idea was to build and strengthen Nordic identity through mutual support, exchange and learning. The activities included biannual town twinning meetings and coordinators’ meetings, annual mayors’ meetings, sports and cultural days and study visits.
In January 2024, Naestved announced its withdrawal from the Nordic town twinning programme. Rauma, Gjövik and Gävle decided to end their Nordic town twinning in summer 2024.
From summer 2024, Rauma, Gävle and Gjövik will continue to work together as partner cities on individual themes and projects.
Boynton Beach cooperation
The City of Rauma signed a partnership agreement with the City of Boynton Beach, Florida on 7.2.2017. The aim of the cooperation is to enable local residents and businesses to network with the partner city.

Information about the cooperation
The basis of the partnership and cooperation is a free-form involvement that encourages individual citizens, various communities and businesses, as well as third sector actors to network and interact with each other. The role of the City of Rauma is to act as a connecting link.
The City of Boynton Beach is the third largest municipality in Palm Beach County with an estimated population of approximately 80,000 people. A large portion of them are of Finnish origin.
The partnership is connected to the work of Sister Cities International, founded in 1956, which seeks to create global agreements based on culture, education, knowledge and trade.

Zhuhai cooperation
In autumn 2016, the City of Rauma signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the city of Zhuhai in China.
Information about the cooperation
The aim of the partnership and cooperation is to enable cooperation and project-based projects, especially between the cities’ business operators. The Chamber of Commerce of Rauma is closely involved in the cooperation with the city of Zhuhai.
