A water main line owned by Rauman Vesi broke on Äyhönjärventie on 14 March 2026 at around 00:30. As a result, the water pressure in the entire city’s water supply network collapsed, and in some areas water flow was almost non‑existent.

The location of the damaged, leaking water main was identified fairly quickly, and by closing valves the area was isolated at around 02:00, allowing water pressure to be restored throughout the network except for the damaged section.

Repair work began immediately, and no properties are without water due to the repair operations.

During the morning, as residents woke up to their normal routines and water consumption increased, it became apparent that the eastern parts of the city are not receiving sufficient water pressure through the smaller water lines currently in use, while the repair of the trunk main is still ongoing.

Discoloured water and/or air may appear in the water supply network. These are not harmful to health and will clear by running the water. Rauman Vesi will begin flushing the trunk mains once the broken water pipe has been repaired.

Due to the repair work, vehicle traffic on Äyhönjärventie is closed between Pumpputie and Lehtikuusentie.

Water pressure is expected to be fully restored in the eastern parts of the city during early afternoon. However, the exact duration of the repair work cannot be estimated, and work will continue until the broken water main has been fully repaired and traffic can be restored on Äyhönjärventie.

We apologise for the inconvenience.
