International House Rauma (IHR) helps people find their place in Rauma – from the first everyday questions to building a longer‑term future in the city. The service provided by the city of Rauma supports the smooth settlement of international residents, students, families and employers by guiding them to the right services and networks, contributing to Rauma’s vitality.
Established in 2023, IHR supports people who are moving to Rauma, already living in the city or considering a move. The service focuses on guidance related to settling in, work, studies and everyday life in Finland that helps navigate services and processes.
Support can range from simple questions to life‑shaping situations. “A customer might come to us with a simple question about grocery shopping – or with something as big as whether their family can stay in Finland. We walk alongside people through it all,” says Mia‑Maria Mattila, Coordinator at IHR. Support is not limited to the moment of arrival, but continues for as long as it is needed.
Following the Feels like home approach – rooted in the Rauma expression ol niingon gotonas – the service aims to be easy to approach and welcoming, offering guidance that feels supportive rather than bureaucratic.
In addition, IHR works closely with partners and companies, e.g. in international recruitment and employee settlement. International House Ambassadors complement this work by supporting community connection and peer‑to‑peer welcoming.
