Donations to Rauma City Museums
Donate to the Rauma Museum
The collection and information services of the Rauma Museum will be closed during the Old Town Hall renovation project until October 2026, during which time we will not be accepting new donations.
The museum’s collections are mainly built up through donations. Donations are accepted on the basis of the museum’s collection policy. The museum does not accept all material offered to it. The decision to accept material depends on its suitability for the museum’s collection and the existence of similar material in the collections.
The Rauma Museum’s focus is on the Rauma area. The material accepted into the collection must be from Rauma. The object must be made, used or owned in Rauma. Pictures must be taken in Rauma or of someone form Rauma.
The museum is interested in all material related to its subject area. The material may be completely new. What matters is the story and the context of the material, not its age or appearance. When, where, why and who are our key questions
If you would like to donate objects, photographs or archival material to the museum, please feel free to contact us!

Guide to Donating
When considering doations, we value all facts and history related to the donated material. Please consider in advance, whether the material has existing historical information. Information on the date of manufacture, service life and users should be available. The Rauma City Museums do not accept donations without the donor’s contact information. Contacting our locations should be done well in advance before scheduled handover. A donation certificate is always issued for each donation, which the donor keeps as a memento of the donation. When preparing the donation certificate, we aim to record all significant historical details about the donation. Please be prepared for a brief interview and reminiscing.
Please remember, that the museums cannot always accept every donation offered. Sometimes the donated material may have a more appropriate recipient and a better storage location elsewhere. The museums staff is eager to help with this as well.
The Donators checklist:
- Does the material fullfill the museums criteria?
- Always contact the museum staff first, via email or phone.
- Tell the museum in advance what you are donating and a little bit about the material’s history.
- After receiving the donation offer, the museum staff considers the material and whether to accept it.
- If the museum accepts your donation, a handover date is arranged, for the delivery of the donation.
