Let’s Get Married!

The exhibition tells about the local wedding traditions through memories and treasures from the museum’s collections.

There are several wedding dresses along with accessories on display, from early 19th century to the 1990´s. Weddings and engagements have been celebrated for centuries and a surprising number of traditions have been passed down through the centuries. Many wedding customs have also changed, for example did you know that the most common colour of the wedding dress was black for a long time? Or that late fall was the most common time to get married until the early 20th century.

There is a small play corner for children in the exhibition where they can try on child´s sized wedding clothes and accessories.
