Applying for municipal early childhood education
Application to early childhood education
With an application for early childhood education , you can only apply for a municipal early childhood education place in a day care centre or family day care (instructions for applying for a service voucher can be found below). Apply at least 4 months before you want to start early childhood education.
If the need for early childhood education and care is sudden and due to employment or studies, you should apply as soon as possible, but no later than two weeks before the start of early childhood education.
Applications for children who need a place in August or September must be submitted by March at the latest.

Application for service vouchers for private daycare centres
Rauma has 4 private daycare centers.
1. Contact the private daycare center of your choice to make sure that a place is available for your child.
2. Make an application for a private daycare center.
3. The family applies to the city for a service voucher using an online application form. Select the service voucher in the application.
Apply for a service voucher at least 4 months before the start of early childhood education .
If the need for early childhood education is sudden and due to employment or studies, you must apply as soon as possible and no later than two weeks before the start of early childhood education.
Mark the application with the start date when the child’s early childhood education actually begins. The voucher has a certain value, and the city of Rauma pays for most of the price directly to the private daycare center. You own fee is defined according to the size of your family, your family’s combined income and the duration of the early childhood education. Your own fee can range from 0 to 311 euros.
The service voucher decision will be made from the date you indicate in your application.
Make a service contract with a private daycare center once you have received the placement decision.
You will receive a separate decision of the service voucher after you have signed a service contract with the day care center and provided your income details or given permission to use the income register.
If the child also has an application for municipal early childhood education, the application is cancelled if the family accepts a place in a private voucher daycare center.
Early childhood education clubs and family groups
The city’s early childhood clubs and family groups are open early childhood education. The clubs are free of charge. There is a tuition fee for family activities.
Electronic applications can be found on the Open Early Childhood Education website. Applications are also available at Sinilintu and at Service Point Pyyrman.
You can get child home care allowance even if your child has a place in a club.

Decision on early childhood education place
You will receive a decision on your early childhood education place at least two weeks before the start of early childhood education. You can postpone the start date by up to one month.
You will receive a decision by post within about 7 working days of the decision being sent.
Accepting or withdrawing the service offered
Confirmation or withdrawal must be submitted within 14 days of the date of service.
If the start date of early childhood education and care is earlier than 14 days from the date of notification, the notification must be submitted no later than the day before the start date of early childhood education and care.
If the early childhood education place is not cancelled, the fee starts to be charged from the start date of the placement.

Reporting of income
Provide all the necessary information within two weeks of the child’s placement in early childhood education and care.
A maximum fee may be set if the carer has not declared the family’s income.

Change in service needs
Submit a change notification by the last day of the month preceding the change. The new service request will take effect from the first day of the following month.
The change is valid for an indefinite period, but at least three months.

You can apply for a change for a child´s early childhood place. The application is valid for one year.
If a child’s existing early childhood education place is terminated, the application will also be cancelled.

Notification of early childhood decisions
Early childhood education and care decisions are sent to the Suomi.fi messaging service.
Authorise the receipt of electronic messages from public authorities. It’s easy and quick to read. You will always be notified by email of new messages, decisions and other incoming documents. Your documents will be stored electronically in the service.

Early childhood education is subject to a fee. The fee depends on the family’s circumstances.
