Paavo Paunu (b. 1965) is known as a painter and sculptor, but his works also playfully push the boundaries between various media. Each individual painting or sculpture tells its own unique story while offering a broader view of the timeless framework of the particular medium.

“In his work, Paunu constantly reinvents the idea of the medium. He distracts us into seeing things differently and restlessly searches, layers, depicts, and imagines a world that could be possible. It is precisely to that world that his works show us the way,” says exhibition curator Harri Laakso.

The exhibition at Rauma Art Museum features works from Paunu’s career, from the 1990s to the present day, including several pieces created especially for this exhibition. Paavo Paunu’s exhibition is on display at Rauma Art Museum from May 9 to October 4, 2026.
