Three girls on a bus stop

Rauma’s public transport Gyyt will be free of charge for both visitors and residents from June 1 to August 9, 2026. Gyyt services will operate free of charge on all routes, and no tickets need to be purchased or shown on board. Routes and timetables for the summer season will be updated on the Gyyt’s website and in the route planner.

– Since 2023, free travel campaigns have clearly increased the use of public transport during the summer and lowered the threshold for trying the bus for errands and leisure trips. At the same time, many riders discover suitable connections for commuting to work or studies. A campaign covering the entire summer timetable period is exceptionally long by Finnish standards, says public transport planner Mikael Saive.

Some adjustments have been made to the summer timetable compared to previous years. Service on route 2 will not operate during the last two evening hours due to low demand. The vehicle rotations of routes 5 and 7 will be combined, resulting in a 60-minute service interval instead of the previous 30 minutes. In addition, one extra vehicle will be added on summer Saturdays to enable operation on route 5.

Overall, the summer timetable changes are moderate. For example, the Savila–Suvitie connection is often used mainly during events, and services will therefore be allocated in a practical way during summer. The aim is to keep the service clear and consistent across the entire network, Saive explains.

No additional services will be arranged for individual event days during the summer. An exception is the Night of the Black Lace in July, when Gyyt services will run extended hours until midnight, providing smooth access to and from the event.

In addition, from the coming summer as well as during the autumn and winter seasons, Gyyt will no longer operate on Sundays. The decision is based on low usage of Sunday services and poorly functioning transfer connections. The impacts of these changes will be monitored through customer feedback and passenger load data. The goal is to ensure that local public transport, possible other mobility services and summer tourism services complement each other as effectively as possible.
