The cycling season in Rauma begins in May with the Six Lakes Cycling Tour and the LiikU Cycling Challenge organised by the Regional Sports Federation of Southwest Finland (LiikU), encouraging people of all ages to get moving by bike.

Rauma’s oldest cycling event series, the Six Lakes Cycling Tour, will start on Saturday, 9 May 2026, and continue until 14 June. The events aim to encourage especially children, young people and fitness enthusiasts in the city centre to cycle with a low threshold for participation.

The event series consists of six cycling events. The first event will be held on a Saturday, while the remaining five will take place on Sundays over the following weeks. Participants can record their rides at registration points between 9 am and 9 pm. A refreshment stall will be available at each event from 10 am to 2 pm, offering free juice as well as a small treat for children.

– You can also take part simply by stopping by a registration point using your own adapted route. For example, the registration point for the Saarnijärvi Cycling event on Kullanperäntie can be easily reached from the city via Murtamontie or Uotilan vanha tie, says Sports Coordinator Kimmo Kouru.

Bicycle-themed prizes will be raffled among all participants, with a separate raffle for children. You can take part in the raffle even if you do not participate in every event. Route maps and registration point locations for the Six Lakes Cycling Tour are available on the Rauma event calendar.

Six Lakes Cycling as Part of the LiikU Cycling Challenge

The Six Lakes Cycling Tour is part of the LiikU Cycling Challenge, which runs from 1 May to 21 June 2026. The campaign encourages cyclists of all ages and fitness levels to incorporate cycling into everyday life and allows cycling kilometres to be recorded using the free Liikkuen läpi vuoden app, available both on mobile devices and online.

– You can record your kilometres using different bikes and according to your own personal goals. The Cycling Challenge is easy to join, for example through the Six Lakes Cycling Tour, Kouru says.

In Rauma, cycling performances can also be recorded using four different post boxes located at Monna Cemetery, the Pohjoiskehä ski lodge car park, the Haapasaarentie bridge and the Metsätähdentie ski lodge trail starting point. In Lappi, performances can be recorded in the Lapin Salama club logbooks. Manual registration cards are available at Service Point Pyyrman.

The Cycling Challenge is organised in cooperation with LiikU and the participating municipalities’ sports services. Prizes will be raffled among all participants, and winners will be notified separately.

Both the Cycling Challenge and the Six Lakes Cycling Tour support the goals of the National Cycling Week, which is held from 8 to 17 May 2026. This year’s theme, Cycling and Art, highlights the experiential nature of cycling and encourages cooperation between local art and cycling actors.
