Marela is the home of a wealthy family of shipowners. It showcases the family’s life at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Marela was owned by the Granlund family from the 1870s until 1906. The Granlunds enjoyed their heyday during the peak of Rauma’s sailing ship era in the 1890s. The site also hosts temporary exhibitions. The building has served as a museum since 1982.
