The sports, leisure and school centre Karin kampus will be completed at the end of February 2024, and the building will be handed over to the City of Rauma at the beginning of March. The actual operations will start in the new premises in August of the same year. The campus will open to the public in early August 2024. More information will be available closer to the date.

– After the handover of the property, a major project will start, namely the furnishing of the premises and the installation of the teaching and audiovisual equipment. At the same time, the necessary sports and gym equipment will be brought into the building. The water processes in the new swimming pool will also be fine-tuned. After these works, the staff will be trained in the use of the technology and systems,” says Soile Strander, Director.

The project includes the swimming pool, the Hj. Nortamo primary school, the music school, the sports hall, the youth centre, the adult education centre and the visual arts and theatre schools.

– The facilities will be operational in phases during August. The pupils of the Nortamo primary school will start their schooling on the campus when the academic year starts. In August, the music school will also start operating in the new premises and the swimming pool will open. The adult education classes will start as usual in September,” says Strander.

An open house on the Kari campus will take place later in autumn 2024, and the inauguration will take place in late 2024. More information about the events and their dates will be announced separately.

– At the Education Department, we are looking forward to building the campus into a common living space for citizens. The Kari campus is a major investment for the benefit of our residents and communities. The project is a real act of well-being by the city. The campus will bring new and healthy structure to our basic services and a new vitality to the city. It will make Rauma more interesting and attractive,” adds Strander.
