Two covid-infections in Rauma normaalikoulu Teacher Training School

Attention Grey

Two pupils in Rauma normaalikoulu Teacher Training School have been diegnosed with covid-19. They have been in school without symptoms. According to investigation, the source of the infection is from outside of the schiil and the infections have no connection with each other.

40 people are exposed, with six members of staff. They have been placed in quarantine for 14 days.

The matter was notified to parents late Friday evening with a Wilma-message. All guardians of the exposed were contacted by infectious disease authorities during Saturday.

The school will arrange distance learning to the quarantined pupils. Schoolwork will continue normally for others.

The quarantine does not apply to family members of the exposed and they can move freely. If a quarantined person gets sick they must be tested and then members of their family must wait for the test results at home. If the quarantined person is a child, one of their parents can stay home and receive infectious disease allowance to compensate for loss of income, if working from home is not possible. There is no reason to test the asymptomatic. Getting tested will not shorten the quarantine.

The incubation period for covid-19 is usually 4 to 5 days, but can vary from 1 to 14. If the exposed person displays even mild symptoms, such as runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, loss of taste or smell or diarrhea in some cases, they must be tested immediately.
