Permission according to the Water Traffic Act

According to Section 106 of the Water Traffic Act, a permit from the municipality’s environmental protection authority is required for the recurring or permanent organization of competitions or practices with motorized watercraft on the same water area. However, no permit is required for areas designated for this purpose in a zoning plan or areas where an environmental permit, as specified in the Environmental Protection Act, has been granted.

A permit must also be obtained for the organization of individual events if significant environmental impacts are anticipated.

The permit is applied for through an informal application sent to the email address kirjaamo.ympla@rauma.fi. The application must include a map of the activity area, written consent from the owner of the water area, and a description of safety considerations. The permit can be granted if the event meets sufficient safety requirements and does not cause unreasonable harm to nature, the environment, fishing, public recreational use of nature, or other public interests.

For competitions held on water areas, a noise notification may also be required.
