Day care and education

The open early childhood education services include family activitiesearly education groups, and summer playfield activities. These services are available to families who are not in municipal day care or get a service voucher for private day care. Families can use open early childhood education services and receive support from the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) for home care or private care, along with additional private day care supplements. In open early childhood education, the focus is on play, music, crafts, physical activity, and other enriching experiences.

  1. Family Activities (Perhetoiminta):
    • Provides a meeting place for families with young children in similar life situations.
    • Offers opportunities for socializing and participation in guided activities.
    • Includes professional listening, counseling, and guidance.
    • Supports interaction between children and adults, contributing to family upbringing.
  2. Free Early Education Groups (Maksuttomat varhaiskasvatuskerhot):
    • No fees are charged for early education groups.
    • These groups provide pedagogically guided activities and play companionship for children aged 2–5 years.
    • Children have the chance to participate in group activities and engage in unhurried play under the guidance of early childhood education staff.
    • Kipparinpuisto hosts free early education groups, which focus on outdoor activities and operate year-round. Applications for these groups can be submitted, and available spots are filled throughout the year.
