Environmental protection notifications and registrations

For some activities, a simple notification to the authorities is sufficient. Registration in the environmental protection information system and subsequent monitoring replace the environmental permit procedure for activities that cause minimal environmental impact.

Environmental permit, registration, and notification procedures are conducted online

Applications for soil extraction permits, environmental permits, various extension or amendment permit applications, as well as registrations and notifications such as noise notifications, are submitted through the electronic service platform Lupapiste.

Lupapiste is a service platform where the submission of permits and notifications, as well as related interactions with authorities, are handled electronically. The purpose of the service is to bring together all parties involved in the processing of the matter in one place, as even the request for statements and responses from other authorities is done through the service platform.

Using the service enables faster, more efficient, and smoother processing of applications and permit procedures, as all the necessary information is immediately available, eliminating the need to submit paper applications and documents separately to different entities. Additionally, all parties involved in the project are aware of the progress of the permit process.

It is also possible to make inquiries to the authorities through the service before the commencement of the project.

Users register in the service using their online banking credentials during their first use. Permit applicant organizations can also register for a paid Business Account for internal project management purposes.

The service is provided by Cloudpermit Oy, a digital business consultancy, and it has been implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment.
